The Secrets Of Lash Growth
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have enviable lush lashes, while others struggle to achieve the same look? The secret lies in understanding the lash growth cycle. While it may seem like lashes are static, they actually go through a natural growth cycle that determines their length, thickness, and overall health.
The lash growth cycle consists of three phases: the anagen, catagen, and telogen phases. Knowing how each phase works can help you better care for your lashes and potentially encourage their growth.
1. Anagen Phase: This is the active growth phase of your lashes, where each hair follicle produces a new lash. On average, this phase lasts for around 30 to 45 days. During this time, lashes grow at a steady pace, adding length and volume. It's the phase we all long for, as it gives us those beautifully long and full lashes.
2. Catagen Phase: Following the anagen phase, lashes transition into the catagen phase, which is a short transitional phase. Lasting for about two to three weeks, during this phase, the lash follicle shrinks, cutting off the blood supply to the lash. This signals the end of active growth, and the lash stops growing.
3. Telogen Phase: Last phase in lash growth cycle. Resting phase for 90-100 days. Old lash stays until new lash grows. Understand cycle for lash care. Remove makeup, avoid rubbing/pulling, use lash serums for healthy growth. Genetics, health, lifestyle also affect lash quality.
